“Kids actually know when they are not good readers. It’s embarrassing and frustrating for them. When our children start the Project Uplift Program and realize they are with kids just like them, the fear is reduced. They need AND love the extra attention from the teacher in their small group and they work on only the parts of reading they need to get better. Kids are able to fill in gaps quickly and see results quickly. This raises their self-esteem and attitude toward learning. It’s a win-win!”
These are the words of Ms. Lisa Lee, principal at Orchard View Elementary. Orchard View needed a village to help it transform from a “D” rated school to a “B” rated school over the last 4 years.
Roots and Wings was and still is, a critical partner in this journey that Orchard View couldn’t live without. They not only assist with funding for the UpLift reading tutorial program but also by lifting up the culture of the school, through the Above and Beyond awards for teachers that include some very special and valuable incentives. Great instruction, plus great culture, plus an amazing business partner in Roots and Wings, and children whose future is brighter because they can read…is a win-win-win-win-win!
