Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender residents of Palm Beach County are able to pull together as a community with the help of Compass Community Center. The Compass mission is to diminish stereotypes by challenging long-standing misconceptions about the character of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. That’s accomplished by promoting pride in the LGBT community. Agency offerings include the LGBT Youth Services program – which provides support, education, and empowerment; HIV outreach, testing, and prevention; and Health Services. The latter focuses on case management and social support and includes mental health therapy for people living with HIV and AIDS. Compass’ 14,000 square-foot community center has a state of the art computer center equipped with 12 desktop PCs and an LGBT-themed lending library. The center is home to more than 20 social, support, and therapeutic groups. Compass hosts outreach activities and community organizing for the larger LGBT community throughout the year. It serves 50,000 youth, adults, and families per year through outreach activities, special events, social media, and direct services.
