Education

Education nonprofits are organizations focused on improving access to quality education, promoting literacy, and enhancing learning opportunities for all, particularly for underserved populations. They provide resources, support, and programs ranging from early childhood education to adult learning, vocational training, and scholarship opportunities.

For a community, these nonprofits play a critical role in breaking the cycle of poverty, fostering personal and professional development, and empowering individuals to succeed. They also contribute to building a more educated, skilled, and equitable society.

Back to Basics

Back to Basics enables children in Palm Beach County to attend school with dignity and be ready to learn through two basic programs: The Angel Program, providing new sneakers, socks, underwear, and a toy for the holidays since 1984, and the Uniform Program, offering new uniforms at the start of each school year since 2001.

Initially assisting 30 students, our all-volunteer organization now supports over 20,000 students annually, enhancing a child's self-esteem, school attendance, and educational performance.

Wish List

The organization is looking for funding for -

  • Uniform Program Expansion: We aim to double our distribution of new uniforms from 20,000 to 40,000 annually. Financial Donations are needed to support this expansion and maintain the increased level of funding as long as the need remains.

  • Angel Program Support: We seek individuals or groups to adopt 20, 50, or 100+ children, ensuring each Angel gift includes new sneakers, socks, underwear, and a toy. Each gift should be individually wrapped, placed in a holiday gift bag, and returned to our warehouse by a specified date. As we celebrate our 40th year, we need the support of the community to adopt over 10,000 children needing Angel gifts.
